Moissanite has a fascinating history. It was first discovered in 1893 by the French scientist Henri Moissan, who found tiny crystal particles inside a meteorite crater in Arizona. Initially, he believed he had discovered diamonds, but years later the crystals were identified as silicon carbide (SiC), a naturally occurring mineral that was later named moissanite in his honour.

Natural moissanite is incredibly rare, making it unsuitable for jewellery in its natural form. Today, all high-quality moissanites used in fine jewellery are created in advanced laboratories, allowing them to achieve exceptional purity, brilliance, and consistency while remaining an ethical and sustainable alternative to mined gemstones.
